Every New Panerai That We Can Talk About (so far)
by George Reid & Elizabeth Smith
Watches and Wonders always brings a solid mixture of forward-bound innovation, and backwards-looking historical celebration. In 2026, Panerai found a perfect balance between both.
With deep historical references, new materials, and a particularly impressive technical piece, this collection feels like a confident step into what makes Panerai special.
A Booth That Told a Story
Before even getting to the watches, Panerai set the tone with one of the most immersive presentations at the show.
At the center of their space was a full-scale replica of a World War II-era dive tank used by Italian naval commandos. The watches were displayed within a layered glass and water installation that created the illusion of being underwater.
It was not just visually impressive. It reinforced the brand’s connection to military history and underwater exploration in a way that felt authentic.
A Clear Theme: Heritage First
Panerai did not appear to officially declare a theme for 2026, but the direction was obvious. This year was about heritage.
Much of the collection draws inspiration from the historic 6152 case, one of the earliest Panerai designs to feature the iconic crown guard. For collectors, this reference is foundational. Seeing it revisited across the lineup felt intentional and long overdue.
Panerai’s recent innovations pushed heavily into modern materials and technical experimentation. While there is still plenty of experimentation to go around, in 2026 the brand is clearly reconnecting with its past while refining its present.
